Young Audiences Arts for Learning

Sixteen Eyes Video Project in Larkspur, CA

Students at San Andreas High School in Larkspur, CA are referred to the school because they have had difficulty in traditional school settings. They worked with Young Audiences film makers Lise Swensen and Keith Hennesey; and their inspirational teacher Amity Hotchkiss to produce a film called "Sixteen Eyes" that wonderfully reflects the complexity of adolescent lives. They spent a year writing, producing, directing, acting and editing a film that was shown publicly at the Lark Theatre.

"It has been particularly gratifying for me to observe how the project helped develop important relationship within the group. Kids in the project treat each other very differently than they did before the project began."
---Michael Gross, Principal, San Andreas High School
